Dr. Robert Sax received his undergraduate degree cum laude from Union College, a PhD in Pharmacology at the University of Virginia, and his MD at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry. He then completed a fellowship in vitreo-retinal diseases in New York City at the Mount Sinai and Beth Israel Hospital Eye Centers.
Dr Sax joined Albany-Troy Cataract & Laser Associates in 1989. His specialty is the treatment of patients with diseases of the retina and vitreous including macular degeneration, diabetic eye disease, retinal vascular (blood vessel) diseases, and hereditary retinal diseases. He specializes in laser surgery for a variety of retinal conditions.
Dr. Sax is the recipient of several research fellowships and is a member of numerous professional societies such as The Albany County Medical Society, the New York Ophthalmological Society, the American Academy of Ophthalmology, and is board-certified from the American Board of Ophthalmology.
