Dr. Richmond received his medical degree from Cornell University Medical College in 1996, where he was the recipient of the Weiss Prize for highest performance in clinical medicine and was honored as a Papanicolau Fellow in clinical anatomy. He completed an internship in general surgery at New York University Medical Center, followed by a residency in orthopaedic surgery at the Hospital for Joint Diseases in Manhattan, which included subspecialty training in orthopaedic trauma surgery at the R. Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore, Maryland. Following his residency, Dr. Richmond completed a fellowship in orthopaedic traumatology at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City, focusing on acute and reconstructive trauma surgery.
Dr. Richmond joined Orthopaedic Associates of Manhasset in 2002 after completing his formal training. His practice is focused on the operative and non-operative treatment of fractures of the upper and lower extremities. Dr. Richmond has a special interest in the fractures of the pelvis and acetabulum (hip socket), along with the treatment of non-unions (unhealed fractures), post-traumatic deformity and other sequaelae of orthopaedic injuries.
Dr. Richmond is board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery, a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, and an active member of the Orthopaedic Trauma Association and the Association for Osteosynthesis/Association for the Study of Internal Fixation (AO/ASIF). He has lectured nationally and locally on various topics related to orthopaedic trauma surgery.
