Brief Intro

I was born in Dayton, Ohio, in 1958 and moved with my family to Detroit in 1963. I have an older brother. Our mother, who was divorced and then widowed in the early 1960s, raised us all by herself. My mother is a strong person who worked hard and took care of everything. I learned my work ethic and how to overcome problems from her. I wanted to be a doctor since I was about 10 years old and watched doctor shows on TV ("Marcus Welby, M.D." and "Medical Center"). I wanted to have a part in caring for people, and I love the many things that are done in medicine. My second love is history. I love medieval and ancient history; reading about people and events that shaped their world. I also like traveling, collecting things and exercising. I have a wife and three kids.
