Growing up in Akron, Ohio, he attended Walsh Jesuit High School, where he met his wife, Bridget. His family now includes two active boys. Dr. Rottinghaus played football at Ohio University until suffering an ACL injury. Throughout his treatment, he was impressed by the extraordinary knowledge and how fast he recovered under his Doctor’s care. Soon after, his focus now shifted toward a career in Orthopaedics.
Dr. Rottinghaus attended Bowling Green University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Biology, Magna Cum Laude from Ohio University in 2000. He then graduated from the Medical College of Ohio in 2005. Following medical school, Dr. Rottinghaus completed his residency at San Francisco Orthopaedic Residency Program and the Wellington Orthopaedic/University of Cincinnati Sports Fellowship Program.
Throughout his residency and fellowship, Dr. Rottinghaus has received an impressive list of
Honors and Awards. In 2003, he received an American Society for Clinical Pathology Award for Academic Excellence and Achievement; awarded to only one student for
Excellence in the study of pathology. In 2004, he was selected by the Wilderness Medical Society to undergo 48 hours of instruction in wilderness medicine from Roane State Community College in Harrison, Tennessee. In 2008, Dr. Rottinghaus was presented with The Journal of Orthopaedic Trauma Orthopaedic Teaching Resident Award. His team treatment experience includes the University of San Francisco, Cincinnati Bengals, University of Cincinnati and the Western & Southern Tennis Masters Tournament.
Dr. Rottinghaus states, "I am driven by a willingness to serve the community through orthopaedic medicine. There is not greater satisfaction than contributing to the betterment of improving a patient’s quality of life. Being a part of the Wellington team will allow me to assist patients in receiving the highest quality and compassionate orthopaedic care resulting in successful outcomes."
