Dr. Penix graduated from United States Air Force Academy and received his medical degree from Tulane University. He completed his orthopaedic residency at Tulane University. He served in the United States Air Force for 26 years attaining the rank of Colonel. He achieved the Excalibur Award for Outstanding Surgeon in United States Air Force for 1987. Dr. Penix has been in private practice in Cincinnati and then in Gallipolis, Ohio. He returned to Cincinnati and joined Ohio Valley Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine, Inc. in 2007.
Dr. Penix is certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and is a Fellow of the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgeons. Along with practicing general orthopaedics, his special interests include total joint replacement, arthroscopy, and fracture care in adults and children.
