John Adams, M.D. is a seasoned internal medicine physician with over 20 years of clinical experience. After many years in practice, he further enriched his training by completing the advanced verification program at the prestigious Institute of Functional Medicine. Dr. Adams specializes in primary care medicine and brings a highly customized approach to patient care using an integrative and systems based approach. He is a skilled clinical diagnostician with a comprehensive approach to the prevention, management and treatment of disease.
Dr. Adams earned his B.S. in biology from the University of Richmond, Virginia and a medical degree from St Georges University School of Medicine. He completed his residency at the University of Maryland Medical System in Baltimore and spent 3 years as an emergency room physician in Baltimore before moving to New York City in 2005. He was an attending physician with the New York Dermatology Group for almost 18 years as the group’s Internal Medicine physician. He served as the Medical Director for NYDG/Integrative Health and Wellness center helping guide the organization through the challenges of the Covid-19 pandemic. He has served on medical advisory boards including Gilead pharmaceuticals for the development and implementation of PreP in the prevention HIV. He remains active in the LGBT community and is skilled in the early diagnosis and treatment sexual heath issues. He has been a clinical investigator in multiple pharmaceutical trials for treatment of psoriasis as well as antiviral treatments. He has several publications in peer reviewed journals related to research in wound healing, repair, and collagen formation.
