Jessica chose to pursue a career in healthcare because of her strong desire to help people. She found becoming a nurse practitioner to be a very rewarding career path, especially when collaborating with her patients to help them achieve better health. The biggest influence in her life is her husband and three daughters. They bring her joy and happiness, which she carries into work every day. She loves getting to know her patients outside of their medical condition and learning what makes them happy and joyful. Getting to know patients more deeply really helps the connection that she has in tackling their health problems and earning their trust.Outside of work she enjoys spending time with her family and volunteering her time with the youth ministry at her church.I try to get to know my patients on a personal level and understand their life experiences. When you engage a patient beyond just questioning them about their ailments, they can recall details that may be pertinent to diagnosing the root of the problem. I also really enjoy when a patient returns to see me and they express the success they have had, such as quitting smoking or using an inhaler that was prescribed to them which has really made a difference in their symptoms. I get great joy in making people feel better.
