Dr Joshua Gizersky, D.O. has developed a unique expertise in treating the complexities of hormonal imbalance through rigorous and dynamic training. He is a an active member of the Fellowship in Anti-Aging, Functional, and Regenerative Medicine, which is America%u2019s leading authority in this emerging field of medicine and is also and active member of the North American Menopause Society and their specialized course for certification in menopause practice.
He attended the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine where traditional medical education was integrated with the concept of osteopathy, which is a system of medicine based on the theory that disturbances in the musculoskeletal system affect other bodily parts, causing many disorders that can be corrected by various manipulative techniques. His interest in hormonal imbalance led him to train with leaders in the fields of men%u2019s health and women%u2019s endocrinology.
He completed an Internal Medicine residency at Maimonides Medical Center, a HealthGrades Top 5% Distinguished Hospital for Clinical Excellence%u2122, and a clinical campus for the NYU School of Medicine and the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. He then went on to complete a unique fellowship in the emerging field of Anti-Aging, Regenerative, and Functional Medicine, which combines the use of bio-identical hormones with supplements to restore wellness and promote longevity and healthy metabolic function. He is currently a Clinical Faculty Attending in the Department of Medicine at Maimonides Medical Center where he actively lectures and teaches resident physicians. He is also actively engaged as a principal investigator in clinical research involving anti-oxidants.
Prior to medical school, Dr Gizersky attended Hofstra University (graduating Cum Laude) where he studied history with a focus on western civilization as well as biology. He led an acclaimed research project under Merck grants that led to the discovery and patent of a compound now being developed into a medication for respiratory distress.
Dr Gizersky grew up in Brooklyn, NY after emigrating from Odessa, Ukraine (he is thus fluent in Russian). He comes from a long line of doctors and his thirst for medical knowledge began in junior high school when he began reading his mother%u2019s nursing textbooks. He cultivated that passion for medicine into an enthusiastic, successful, and gratifying career where he enjoys discerning the subtleties and intricacies of hormonal imbalance and metabolic disease.
