William W. Mims has practiced in Spartanburg since 1999. He is a native of Charleston South Carolina, and grew up in Orangeburg, South Carolina. He received his B.S. degree at The Citadel and attended medical school at the Medical University of South Carolina. After completing a residency in anatomic and clinical pathology in the Department of Pathology at the Medical University of South Carolina, he did a fellowship in surgical pathology at Johns-Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, M.D.
Prior to joining Spartanburg Pathology Associates, he was in private practice at Harris Regional Medical Center in Sylva, North Carolina for three years and was the laboratory director of Swain County Hospital, a Medical Examiner, and regional forensic pathologist. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Pathology in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology. He has interests in gastrointestinal and genitourinary pathology, and general surgical pathology. He is the Medical Director of the Mary Black Memorial Hospital Laboratory.
