William Strecker, MD is a Board-Certified Orthopedic Surgeon and Board-Certified Hand Surgeon with over 30 years of experience. Dr. Strecker specializes in hand surgery, pediatric orthopedics, general orthopedics, and Worker’s Compensation. He earned his Medical Degree from the University of Missouri. Dr. Strecker was the Assistant Resident in Surgery, Division of General Surgery at St. Louis Hospital and completed a Residency in Surgery at the Washington University School of Medicine. He was a Fellow at Children’s Hospital, Royal Hallamshire, King Edward VII Hospital in Sheffield, England and a Fellow in the Division of Microvascular Surgery at the Mayo Clinic. Additionally, Dr. Strecker completed a Hand Tutorial at Washington University School of Medicine, Barnes Hospital.
Dr. Strecker has consistently held an academic appointment since 1975, including the position of Former Chief of Surgery at the St. Louis Children’s Hospital. He currently serves as a Lecturer for the Program of Physical Therapy at the Washington University School of Medicine. Dr. Strecker has also consistently held a hospital appointment. He has been the Director of Rehabilitation Services for the Shriners Hospital for Crippled Children in St. Louis since 1981. His service on National and International Committees includes the St. Louis Shriners Hospital, Washington University Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, American College of Surgeons, and the St. Louis Orthopedic Society.
In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Strecker maintains research interests in pediatric orthopedics and hand problems. He has authored numerous book chapters and articles that are published in peer-reviewed medical and research journals. Dr. Strecker is a sought after national speaker for pediatric orthopedics and hand surgery.
Dr. Strecker is a member of the Academic Orthopedic Society, American Academy of Cerebral Palsy and Development Medicine, American Society of Orthopedic Surgery, American College of Surgeons, American Medical Association, American Society for Surgery of the Hand, Mid-America Orthopaedic Association, Missouri State Orthopaedic Association, Pediatric Orthopaedic Society of North America, and the St. Louis Orthopaedic Society.
