While my main focus has been the Trauma Medical Director of the Emanuel Trauma Program, including the coordination of 8 or more specialties in the management of the most severely injured trauma patients, I have expertise in chest wall reconstruction, surgery for chest lung cancers, thorascopic surgeries, life support (cardiopulmonary bypass machine) for patients in pulmonary failure not responding to respiratory therapy, patients with severe hypothermia. With the exception of lung/heart transplant, our team of surgeons are skilled at and recognized for treating very advanced diseases and guiding the patient and their families through the process of recovery. We take care of all types of very ill patients, regardless of their ability to pay. Our trauma center at Emanuel has been verified for 22 years by the American College of Surgeons Committee on Trauma for providing the highest level of trauma care defined by this international professional surgical organization.
