Wayne L. King, D.D.S.

Dr. Wayne L. King is a native
Charlestonian who graduated from Porter Military Academy
in 1964. After earning a B.S. degree in Chemistry, with
minors in math and German, from the College of
Charleston in 1968, he was awarded a D.M.D. degree from
the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC), School
of Dentistry in 1972. He then entered the United States
Navy as a dental officer and completed a general dental
internship at Boston Naval Hospital. LCDR. King also
served two years aboard the USS Puget Sound (AD-38). In
1977 he finished a two-year residency (one year as Chief
Resident) in Pediatric Dentistry at MUSC. He then
entered private practice in Charleston with Children’s
Dentistry, PA. He is a member of numerous dental
societies and organizations.
Dr. King is married to Jeannie
Nissen King, a Converse graduate and native of Marion,
SC, who teaches first grade music at Porter-Gaud School.
They have one son, Davis Legare, who is nineteen years
old and a sophomore at the College of Charleston. The
Kings are members of Grace Episcopal Church. Outside of
family and pediatric dentistry, his greatest interests
are cooking, wine collecting, and traveling. For
twenty-five years he was the president of the Charleston
Baillage of the Chaine des Rotisseurs, the largest and
oldest gastronomic society in the world.
