Brief Intro

Dr. UshaSree Chamarthy hails from Visakhapatnam, a coastal city in Southern India. She received her undergraduate and medical degrees from Andhra University. Her medical training was at Andhra Medical College/King George Hospital, Visakhapatnam. Dr. Chamarthy came to the US in 1989. Her career and experience include basic research at Rush University and Northwestern University in Chicago, Illinois. Dr. Chamarthy completed Internal Medicine Residency at the Northeastern Ohio University (NEOUCOM) Hospital in Canton, Ohio and fellowship in hematology and medical oncology at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. After completing sub-specialty training, she stayed on as BMT faculty at the Myeloma and Transplant Institute, Little Rock, AR. Prior to joining Sparrow Health System in November 2004, she had spent four years as a Senior Staff Physician for the bone marrow transplant program at Henry Ford Health System. Dr. Chamarthy is American Board of Internal Medicine certified in Internal Medicine, Hematology and Oncology. She is currently the Director of Medical Oncology/Hematology at Sparrow Regional Cancer Center. She treats all cancer types and non-malignant blood disorders. She has a particular interest in malignant hematology, myeloma and breast cancer. Dr. Chamarthy also has sustained interest in clinical research and teaching. Dr. Chamarthy takes pride in her role as a physician, the career path she has chosen - "Compassionate care" is her motto.
