Dr. Shively is a 1978 graduate of the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed his postgraduate training at the Detroit Osteopathic Hospital Corporation. Subsequently, Dr. Shively established a solo practice in that same area of Appalachia where he stayed for sixteen years before being recruited to Providence in 1995 to teach Geriatrics.
Dr. Shively brings to the faculty more than 25 years of clinical and business experience, boundless energy, a CAQ in Geriatrics and a Masters in Health Science Administration. He has four children, is an avid runner, and is the team physician for Novi High School. In his spare time, Dr. Shively is involved with Angela Hospice, Garden City Hospital Urgent Care, his church, and the local theater.
