Terry E. Shlimbaum, MD, specializes in family medicine. In addition to his position at Summit Medical Group, Dr. Shlimbaum is Chief of Adult Primary Care at Summit Medical Group and Assistant Clinical Professor of Medicine at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey - Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in New Brunswick.
Dr. Shlimbaum is Former Medical Director of the Delaware Valley Family Health Center, Phillips-Barber Family Health Center, Hunterdon Regional Community Health, and Hunterdon Care Center. He is Former Interim Director of the Hunterdon Medical Center Emergency Department and Cofounder of the Hunterdon County Medication Access and Compliance Partnership. He has been a member of the Hunterdon Family Practice Residency Program, a partner at Hickory Run Family Practice Associates, and an associate of the Monmouth Family Medical Group.
Dr. Shlimbaum's research interests are primarily devoted to patient / physician satisfaction, insomnia management, protocols for people with diabetes, Lyme disease evaluation and costs, and colorectal cancer screening. He has delivered local, regional, and national invited presentations on these and related topics in his field, some of which have been televised on New Jersey Network.
Dr. Shlimbaum says, "I have been interested in science and helping others since childhood. Because family medicine allows me to help my patients and be involved in science, it is an ideal career for me." He adds, "In addition to delivering high-quality care for my patients, I'm focused on patient satisfaction and running an efficient office. I believe in team-based care, the patient-centered medical home, and strategies for addressing challenges of the rapidly changing healthcare system."
Dr. Shlimbaum is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians, New Jersey Medical Society, Hunterdon County Medical Society, New Jersey Family Medicine Research Network Board of Trustees, and Society for Teachers of Family Medicine.
When he is not working with his patients, Dr. Shlimbaum enjoys spending time with his family, sports, and traveling.
