Brief Intro

Dr. Unterman received his undergraduate degree from the University of Chicago and his medical degree from the University of Oklahoma. He completed his residency and advanced eye surgery training at the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City. During his fellowship at the Louisiana State University Eye Center he specialized in diseases and surgery of the cornea, as well as refractive surgery. Prior to joining the staff at the Mid-America Eye Center, Dr. Unterman was a full time faculty member and Assistant Professor in the Department of Ophthalmology at the University of Kansas Medical School. He was also the Medical Director of the Kansas Eye Bank and the Cornea Service. Dr. Unterman was also an Assistant Clinical Professor at the KU Medical Center and a consultant at the Kansas City Veterans Administration Center. Dr. Unterman and his wife Ellen have two daughters. He enjoys sports car restoration.
