Steven Wiegand was born in Cherry Point, North Carolina. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and attended Medical School at Hahnemann in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania which is now part of Drexel University. He completed residency training at Duke-Fayetteville Family Practice Residency in 1980. He is dual Board Certified in Emergency Medicine and Family Practice and has been an attending in Emergency Medicine at Rex Hospital since July, 1980.
