Sonya Malekzadeh, MD, is a board-certified otolaryngologist at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital and a Professor at Georgetown University School of Medicine. She specializes in head and neck cancers, sinus surgeries, and sleep apnea. Dr. Malekzadeh's research focuses on medical education and simulation training, including cost-effective task trainers for otolaryngology.
Honored twice with Georgetown's Outstanding Teaching Award, she co-developed COCLIA, an educational tool endorsed by the AAO-HNS/F, and launched the first ORL Emergencies Boot Camp. A leader in education, she has served on AAO-HNS/F boards and committees and as an Associate Editor of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery.
Dr. Malekzadeh earned her medical degree from George Washington University and completed her residency at the University of Maryland.
