I grew up in Chicago and attended college at Northwestern University In Evanston, IL, and medical school at Rush Medical College in downtown Chicago. I came to Los Angeles and did my residency in internal medicine at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and did my cardiology fellowship at UCLA-Wadsworth VA Hospital. I then joined the faculty at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center serving as director of the cardiac surgery intensive care unit and then as director of the Advanced Heart Failure program. I also served as chair of the Institutional Review Board and in my last year there, as clinical chief of the division of cardiology. I joined Kaiser Permanente in 2005 and am currently one of two heart transplant cardiologists for Kaiser Permanente in Southern California. I am also chief of the division of cardiology at the Kaiser Permanente Los Angeles Medical Center and am a clinical associate professor at the UCLA School of Medicine.
