Hospitalists are physicians who specialize in the care of hospitalized patients. The hospitalist will communicate with your primary care physician on a frequent basis while you are in the hospital. If you need to speak with your hospitalist while you or a member of your family is in the hospital, it is best to ask the nurse caring for you to contact the physician.
