Dr. Ali completed an intensive six-year combined Bachelor of Science-Medical Doctor program at Howard University in Washington D.C. He graduated Summa Cum Laude with a bachelor’s degree in biology, and then with honors from medical school. After doing an internship at York Hospital in York, Pennsylvania, Dr. Ali went on to complete his ophthalmology residency at the University of Rochester Eye Institute in Rochester, New York. Thereafter, Dr. Ali completed a fellowship in glaucoma at the Kresge Eye Institute in Detroit, Michigan.
Being a Baltimore native, Dr. Ali returned to the area following his training. Currently, he is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and serves as the director of glaucoma service at the Krieger Eye Institute at Sinai Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland. Dr. Ali specializes in the medical and surgical treatment of glaucoma and has experience in complex cataract surgery. At present, he is performing various laser treatments for the treatment of glaucoma, as well as tube shunt and filtration surgery. In addition, he performs small incision suture-less cataract surgery allowing patients to achieve a quick recovery. Dr. Ali is actively involved in resident education and is constantly exploring novel techniques for the management of glaucoma.
