Ryan Thomas, MD, ABP, is a Pediatric Pulmonologist at MSU Health Care Specialty and Pediatrics. He received his undergraduate degree in Astrophysics from Lyman Briggs College at Michigan
State University. Dr. Thomas received his medical degree from Wayne State University. He completed a pediatric residency at Beaumont Children's Hospital in Royal Oak, Michigan. Dr. Thomas went on to complete a pediatric pulmonology fellowship at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland. He then returned to MSU in 2017.
Dr. Thomas currently serves as the Division Chief for Pediatric Pulmonology and the Director of the Cystic Fibrosis Center. His clinical interests include cystic fibrosis, difficult to treat asthma, chronic lung disease of prematurity, lung function testing and management of respiratory complications of genetic and complex medical diseases.
His academic interests include quality improvement, the pulmonary microbiome in cystic fibrosis and medical education of pediatric residents and early career pediatric pulmonologists. He currently serves as the Director of Scholarly Activity for the Michigan State University Pediatric Residency Program helping residents with their research and quality improvement activities. He also serves on the Pediatric Web Committee of the American Thoracic Society creating education materials for early career pediatric pulmonologists and pediatric pulmonary fellows.
