Dr. Yen was raised in Southern California. He received his undergraduate from the University of California, Berkeley and received his medical degree from New York University. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine at UCLA and fellowship in Gastroenterology at the University of Buffalo. He has additional specialty training in Hepatology & Liver Transplantation as well as Advanced Therapeutic & Interventional Endoscopy, and graduated with a Masters degree in Public Health.
Dr. Yen joined Southlake Clinic in 2014 after serving many years as faculty at the University of Colorado, Denver School of Medicine, where he specialized in advanced endoscopy and and served as the section's director of clinic outcomes research. Some of his previous research focused on colon polyp detection, GI cancer diagnosis and survival, liver transplant survival, and advanced endoscopy techniques.
He is board-certified in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology. His clinical interests include all areas of gastroenterology, including irritable bowel syndrome, inflammatory bowel disease, liver diseases, GI cancer staging/diagnosis, colon cancer screening, pancreaticobiliary disease, and advanced therapeutic endoscopy procedures
