Robert E. Tibbs, Jr., M.D. completed a course of pre-medical studies at Auburn University. He graduated with a Doctorate of Medicine from the University of Alabama School of Medicine in 1993. A general surgery internship was completed in 1994 at the Mayo Clinic Graduate School of Medicine in Rochester, Minnesota. He completed a general surgery residency at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in 1995, followed by a research fellow in neurosurgery at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in 1996. From 1996 through 2001, Dr. Tibbs completed a neurosurgery residency at the University of Mississippi Medical Center and the Veterans Administration Hospital in Jackson, Mississippi. Dr. Tibbs pursued a spine fellowship at Wake Forest University School of Medicine Department of Neurosurgery, Winston-Salem, North Carolina in2002. Dr. Tibbs established practice with Neuroscience Specialists in 2001, where he specializes in complex spine surgery and instrumentation. Dr. Tibbs is board-certified with the American Board of Neurological Surgery. He holds memberships in the North American Association of Spine Specialists, the North American Spine Society, and the American Association of Neurological Surgeons.
