Dr. Simmons received his BS from Houghton College in Houghton, New York. He received an M. S in Anatomy from Michigan State in 1968. He attended Bowman Gray School of Medicine at Wake Forest University graduating in 1972. After an internship at Walter Reed Medical School, Washington D.C. ending in 1973, Dr. Simmons finished his residency in Internal Medicine between 1973 – 1975 and subsequent Fellowship at Brooke Medical Center, Fort Sam Houston, Texas in 1975 - 1977. His is a member of the American Gastroenterological Association and is a fellow with the American College of Gastroenterology. He has been with the Centers for Gastroenterology since 1982.
