Dr. Randy W. Viola is a hand and orthopedic surgeon at The Steadman Clinic in Vail, CO. He specializes in hand, wrist and elbow disorders, but also has an area of expertise in arthroscopic surgery and sports medicine of the upper extremity. Dr. Viola focuses on acute trauma, degenerative and sports-related injuries. He joined The Steadman Clinic in 1999 and has offices in Vail and Frisco, Colorado.
Dr. Viola treats numerous conditions of the lower arm extremities such as traumatic injuries to tendons, nerves, bones, and joints. He also concentrates on fracture fixation, soft tissue repair, reconstruction cases involving tendon transfers, nerve compression, vascular repairs and treatment and management of degenerative conditions such as arthritis.
Dr. Viola published work on topics such as distal radius fractures and disorders of the distal radioulnar joint. These have appeared in the Journal of Orthopaedic Research, Journal of Hand Surgery, American Journal of Sports Medicine, Journal of Pediatric Orthopaedics, and Journal of Shoulder and Elbow Surgery.
Dr. Viola has performed surgery on and treated several collegiate and professional athletes. He is the upper extremity consultant for the United States Ski Team, Denver Broncos and United States Olympic Team. He is a dynamic member of American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, American Society for Surgery of the Hand, and the Hand Society.
