Dr. Michael Park is trained in the diagnosis and management of all aspects of arterial and venous disease. His vascular surgery fellowship training was at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, and his surgical training was at the St. Luke's/Roosevelt Hospital in New York City.

He went to medical school at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons, and he joins us from their faculty where he was Assistant Professor of Surgery in the Weill Cornell-Columbia Division of Vascular Surgery.

Dr. Park's areas of interest include endovascular surgery with is a minimally invasive, catheter-based method of treating vascular disease, and open vascular surgery. Diseases that he treats include, but are not limited to, thoracic and abdominal aortic aneurysms, carotid artery occlusive disease, lower extremity occlusive disease, renal and mesenteric occlusive disease, diseases of the veins, and hemodialysis access.

His undergraduate education was at Harvard College, where he majored in biomedical engineering. Dr. Park's personal interests include golf, squash and fishing.

Dr. Park is a member of the Society for Vascular Surgery, the Peripheral Vascular Surgery Society, the American Association for Vascular Surgery, the International Society for Vascular Surgery and the Polk County Medical Society.

Dr. Park is certified in vascular surgery. He currently offers outpatient appointments at Iowa Heart Center's clinics in West Des Moines and Ames, and operates primarily at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines.
