A member of our Internal Medicine Department since 2000, Dr. Piedra has extensive training and expertise in Gastroenterology. His special clinical interests include advanced endoscopy and flexible sigmoidoscopy techniques for diagnosing a variety of gastrointestinal conditions, such as diverticulitis and gastrointestinal bleeding. Dr. Piedra has led a number of medical teaching conferences focused on Gastroenterology and Internal Medicine topics. Dr. Piedra received his medical degree in 1981 from the University of Illinois Abraham Lincoln School of Medicine in Chicago. He completed his Residency in Internal Medicine at Hines Veterans Affairs Hospital, where he served as Chief Resident. He completed Fellowship training in Gastroenterology at Hines Veterans Affairs Hospital in affiliation with Chicago's Illinois Masonic Medical Center. Dr. Piedra is a member of the American College of Physicians and the American Society of Internal Medicine. He has endoscopy and admitting privileges at Central Dupage Hospital, Edward Hospital and Delnor Community Hospital.
