Dr. PETE PETERSON, MD is a board-eligible general surgeon. His surgical interests include Advanced Endoscopy, Minimally Invasive General and Foregut Surgery, and Bariatric Surgery. He has a unique training experience with TGH being a tertiary referral center and the region’s only Level I Trauma Center. His foregut experience is further strengthened by association with the USF Joy McCann Culverhouse Center for Swallowing Disorders which manages nearly thirty percent of Florida’s Esophageal Motility disorders.
His practice at MIIS (Minimally Invasive Institute of Surgery) takes pride in providing state-of-the-art surgical care with a specific focus on patient experience and education through advanced technology offering a wide range of surgical procedures such as:

Education
He obtained his undergraduate degree from the University of North Florida. He spent one year at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville Florida working in the Alzheimer’s Research Laboratory prior to medical school. After attaining his medical degree from the University of South Florida, he then completed his general surgery residency at The University of South Florida where he was able to train at unique sites including, Moffitt Cancer Center, the Bay Pines, and the James A. Haley Veterans Administration hospitals, and Tampa General Hospital. He is currently completing a Fellowship in Minimally Invasive Surgery with a focus on Advanced Gastrointestinal and Bariatric Surgery and Advanced Endoscopy.
Outside of his professional career, Dr. Peterson enjoys a plethora of home improvement projects, automotive mechanics, and spending time with the love of his life, Dr. Erica Peterson.
