In psychiatry, it’s rewarding to work one-on-one with patients and see them recover to the point where they thrive, not just survive. Mood and psychotic disorders are two of my special interests and another focus is working with military veterans who suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). This is a very important issue to me as I served in the army for 15 years myself and went through the experience of being deployed to Iraq in 2003.
I consider myself a very detail-oriented person and careful listener. I take the time to understand each patient’s story and treat the whole person instead of concentrating only on the illness.
