Brief Intro

Welcome to My Doctor Online, a web site that my colleagues and I developed to make it easier for you to take care of your healthcare needs. On this site you will find answers to many of your questions about my clinical practice. Also included are several online features that will allow you to e-mail me, check your laboratory results and refill prescriptions. I hope you find its content informative and useful. Background I was born in the Pacific Northwest and spent my entire young life in the Seattle area. I attended Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma, Washington and the University of Washington School of Medicine in Seattle. After internship at the Swedish Hospital Medical Center in Seattle and a Research Fellowship at the University of Washington, I joined the Otolaryngology residency at the University of California at Davis in Sacramento. After residency I was lucky enough to be awarded a prestigious fellowship in otology and neurotology with The Otology Group in Nashville, Tennessee. I joined the Kaiser Permanente in 1995, and have been so delighted that I have practiced here ever since! I specialize in diseases of the ears, nose, throat, and neck, and have a broad range of practice, including appointments in the clinic and surgery in the operating room. I particularly like the variety in my practice. I see patients of all ages, and they have a wide variety of issues from simple to life-threatening. It is a real privilege to be allowed to help people with something so precious and important as their health. I have had parents tell me that putting tubes in their child's ears "changed our lives." I've had patients return to work because they were fitted with hearing aids that allowed them to communicate again. It is so rewarding to be able to influence people's lives for the better. I am specially trained as an otologic (ear) surgeon, and have a particular interest in hearing loss, tinnitus and vertigo. The best part about practicing as a Head and Neck Surgeon at Kaiser Santa Rosa is our fantastic health care team. We have the best doctors, nurses, and support staff in the country, and we provide the highest quality integrated care. Roles and Responsibilities In addition to my "day job" I am also deeply involved in the Quality process here at Santa Rosa Kaiser. Not only can I make a positive impact on patients lives one-on-one, I can help to change the systems that affect us all.
