Brief Intro

I have been practicing general pediatrics for 20 years now. While I still actively manage well child health checks, ADD/ADHD, anxiety/depression, Asthma, Eczema, Allergies, Acne, Insomnia, colds and flu as well as other child health issues, my consuming interest is childhood obesity and metabolic health. As an exercise physiologist and nutritionist at UCLA in the 80's, I studied the process of muscular and aerobic adaptations to exercise and lifestyle. As a Pediatrician in Myrtle Beach SC, I work actively with local school through my community health center group (Little River Medical Center) to assure children in our community understand the importance of health, fitness and diet choices. I work with children individually in my clinic on fitness assessments, diet training and motivational interviewing to bring out the best in our children. More importantly, I try to help them understand the consequences of diabetes, high blood pressure and high cholesterol later in life. As part of a Community Health Center, I have the opportunity to get children appointments with our mental health specialist's and WICC specialists and work in close cooperation to develop a treatment plan. My goal is to help parents and children understand the disease process they are faced with and work together to decide the best treatment options with an understanding of evidence based medicine. As a Medical Home, LRMC strives to provide the most complete health and illness care possible.
