Over his 40-year career, Dr. Neville Pokroy has been both witness to and a participant in the evolution of nephrology. He has trained on four continents and practiced in five countries collaborating with some of the world’s pre-eminent kidney specialists.
After graduating with a medical degree from the prestigious University of Cape Town in South Africa, Dr. Pokroy discovered a passion for nephrology during his residency. Still in its infancy in the late 1960s, nephrology was experiencing tremendous growth and technological development which the young resident found thrilling.
Even with his nearly twenty years of higher education, Dr. Pokroy believes the practice of medicine is only partially about knowledge and skill and mainly about caring for others. By practicing with compassion and taking a personal interest in his patient’s lives, Dr. Pokroy feels he can provide better care and improve outcomes.
Dr. Pokroy was the second physician to join KSOSN and has been guiding the growth of the practice for over 30 years. Dr. Pokroy was instrumental in the development of the region’s first private dialysis facilities and vascular access center providing higher quality services for CKD patients. He continues to plan for and manage the growth of dialysis in the region and is the Medical Director for Davita Dialysis in Las Vegas.
Dr. Pokroy is originally from Salisbury, Rhodesia (Zimbabwe). He is an avid sportsman who enjoys competitive squash, when he can find it, as well as gardening, skiing and golfing.
