Brief Intro

Dr. Charles received his Doctorate in Medicine at the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo in Dominican Republic in 1967. Dr. Charles completed his internship at Mount Sinai Medical Services, City Hospital at Elmhurst, New York City, New York. He completed his internal medicine residency at Our Lady of Mercy Medical Center, Saint Barnabas Hospital and Bronx-Lebanon Hospital, affiliated with Albert Einstein College of Medicine, New York. He completed cardiology fellowship at Lankenau Hospital affiliated with Thomas Jefferson School of Medicine, Philadelphia. Before joining Florida Heart Associates in 1996, he was the staff cardiologist at the VA Outpatient Clinic in Fort Myers, Florida and the VA Hospital in Marlin, Texas and practiced cardiology in Fort Myers with Associates in Cardiac Diseases. Dr. Charles is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology, a Fellow of the American College of Physicians and a member of the Lee County Medical Society and American Society of Echocardiography. He is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine with a subspecialty in cardiovascular disease. Dr. Charles has lived and practiced in Fort Myers since 1979.
