Myles Abbott, M.D., was born in New Haven, Connecticut and raised in Miami, Florida. After attending undergraduate school at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia, Dr. Abbott received his Doctorate in Medicine degree from the University of Miami in 1972. His pediatric training, including Chief Residency in Pediatrics at the University of California at San Francisco and San Francisco General Hospital was completed in 1976. He is Board Certified by the American Board of Pediatrics and a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics.
Dr. Abbott joined East Bay Pediatrics in 1978, after teaching in San Francisco at Mt. Zion Hospital and UCSF. He has served as Chairman of the Department of Pediatrics at Alta Bates Hospital, President of the Northern California chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics, and a board member of the American Board of Pediatrics. He is now Chair of District IX of the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP-CA) and sits on the Board of Directors of the National AAP. Dr. Abbott is an attending physician at Children’s Hospital and Research Center Oakland and Clinical Professor of Pediatrics at the University of California San Francisco School of Medicine.
Dr. Abbott and his wife, Ida, live in Oakland. They have two grown sons, Jordan and David.
