Dr. Mikhail Malek received his medical degree from Cairo University School of Medicine. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine and a fellowship in Cardiology at Saint Francis Hospital in Evanston, Illinois. Dr. Malek underwent intensive training in Interventional Cardiology at Saint Francis Hospital where he also served as Chief Medical Resident and Chief Cardiology Fellow. Dr. Malek is Board Certified in Cardiovascular Disease, Interventional Cardiology, and Internal Medicine. He is a member of the American College of Cardiology, Egyptian Medical Association, California Medical Association, and San Diego County Medical Society.
Dr. Malek is currently Medical Director of Cardiovascular Services at both Palomar Medical Center and Pomerado Hospital. He is also Chairman of the Cardiology Committee and a member of the Multi-Speciality Peer Review Committee at Palomar Medical Center. He has held past positions as Chairman of the Department of Medicine and Chairman of the Medical Education and Library Committee at Palomar Medical Center. He was voted “Physician of the Year†in 1995 by Palomar Hospital’s Cardiac Care Unit and was selected as one of “America’s Top Physicians†by Consumer’s Research Council of America in 2006.
Dr. Malek has been practicing Interventional Cardiology with Escondido Cardiology Associates since 1997. He is an active speaker in the community of Escondido teaching and raising awareness about cardiovascular disease. He is married to Germaine Malek, M.D. and has two children. His interests include music and photography.
