Dr. Michael Shishov received a BA degree with high honors from Brandeis University and later an MD degree from the Sackler School of Medicine in Tel Aviv, Israel. He completed his internship and residency in pediatrics at New York University Medical Center and Bellevue Hospital in New York, followed by subspecialty training in pediatric rheumatology at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center in Ohio. During the summers of his three-year fellowship, Dr. Shishov completed a Masters in Public Health from the Harvard School of Public Health in Boston, Massachusetts, with a concentration in Clinical Effectiveness. Dr. Shishov’s clinical interests include the epidemiology of systemic juvenile idiopathic arthritis and mixed connective tissue disease, vasculopathy in juvenile dermatomyositis, and adherence with medications in systemic lupus erythematosus. Dr. Shishov is Arizona’s only board certified pediatric rheumatologist. He is also board certified in Pediatrics and is a member of the American College of Rheumatology. Dr. Shishov is the Division Chief of pediatric rheumatology at Phoenix Children’s Hospital. As a staff member of AARA, Dr. Shishov sees only children up to age 18 with arthritis and rheumatic disorders and serves as consultant to the rest of our staff on pediatric issues.
