Michael J. Rossi, M.D. comes to Wenatchee from Sun Valley Sports Medicine in Ketchum, Idaho. He completed a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering and a M.S. in Biomedical Engineering at the University of California, Davis. He received his Medical Doctorate from the University of California, Irvine where he was also an member of Alpha Omega Alpha, the medical honorary.
Dr. Rossi did a General Surgery Internship and an Orthopedic Surgery Residency at Stanford University Medical Center, where he was also Chief Resident in Orthopedics. He followed this with an Orthopedic Sports Medicine and Arthroscopy Fellowship at the Taos Orthopedic Institute in Taos, New Mexico where he was Assistant to the US Ski Team Physician. Dr. Rossi has also worked as a volunteer Orthopedic Surgeon in Nicaragua.
A recent article titled sVideo Informed Consent Improves Knee Arthroscopy Patient Comprehensiont was published in the June, 2006 issue of Arthroscopy: The Journal of Arthroscopic and Related Surgery. The article presents the positive results of a study that tested the hypothesis that video informed consent improves knee arthroscopy patient comprehension and satisfaction compared with traditional verbal informed consent. Dr. Rossi has also been elected to Active Member of the Arthroscopy Association of North America.
Dr. Rossi’s personal interests include alpine, telemark and Nordic skiing, mountaineering, fly-fishing and biking. He is an active member of the US Ski Team physician pool and has traveled most recently with the Men’s US Ski Team to Chamonix, France. Before becoming an active team physician, he was been invited to travel with the US Ski as a non-active member. He traveled with the team to Chamonix in February 2005 and in December 2006 he was invited to work with the Women’s US Ski Team at the NorAm races at Lake Louise.
