Melinda Abernethy, MD, chose to pursue medicine to help women regain their quality of life. She loves getting to know new patients and seeing patients return who are excited about their improved function and sense of renewal. She enjoys helping her patients set goals to improve their health. She has a special interest in complex pelvic floor disorders such as obstetrical trauma, fistulas, mesh complications and congenital reproductive anomalies.Dr. Abernethy’s biggest influence is her grandmother who was a seamstress. She taught her how to place her first sutures and how to transform a life with compassion. When she’s not working, Dr. Abernethy enjoys building houses as a volunteer. She also loves outdoor activities with her family including swimming, canoeing, sailing, snow skiing, hiking and camping. Each day I strive to make conversations about pelvic floor disorders easier for patients and help restore their ability to enjoy their lives.
