My goal as a vascular specialist is to provide the best care possible for patients with vascular disease. This means being able to offer all therapies for vascular problems and choosing the therapy that is in the best interest of the patient. As a vascular surgeon, I have been trained in the complete care of patients with diseases of the vascular system. This means that I can treat patients using medical therapy, minimally invasive procedures using catheters, angioplasty balloons and stents. I can also perform open surgical operations when necessary. Since I am able to utilize all of the treatment options, I can make the best therapeutic decisions for my patients. Some of the newer approaches for vascular disease include the use of stents for treatment of the carotid arteries in the neck, expanded use of angioplasty and stents in the leg arteries and less invasive procedures to repair aneurysms in the aorta. Treatments for varicose veins have moved from the operating room to the office setting. Catheter closure procedures done with local anesthesia have replaced vein-stripping operations. Small varicose veins and spider veins are treated in the office with a combination of sclerotherapy and the Vein Gogh procedure. CREDENTIALS I have been in practice since 1988 and have practiced in Melbourne, Florida since 1992. I have board certification by the American Board of Surgery in Vascular Surgery. I am a member of the Society for Vascular Surgery, the American College of Surgeons, Society for Clinical Vascular Surgery, Peripheral Vascular Society, Eastern Vascular Society, Florida Vascular Society and the American College of Phlebology. I have served as the chief of vascular surgery at Holmes Regional Medical Center and am currently the Chairman of the Department of Surgery.
