I am interested in studying the out-of-pocket costs and time costs that cancer patients face while undergoing diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up. These costs can lead patients and their caregivers to experience financial distress and decrease their quality of life. I am working to develop ways to screen patients for financial distress, improve communication about the anticipated costs of care, connect patients to available financial assistance resources, and help care teams to better prepare and support patients throughout their cancer journey.
