Dr. Schlatter received his Bachelor of Science degree in Microbiology from Indiana University and his medical degree from Ohio State University. Dr. Schlatter's postgraduate medical training included general surgery residency training in the Michigan State University / Butterworth Hospital program. He received additional fellowship training in pediatric liver transplantation at the University of Texas Children's Medical Center and in Pediatric Surgery at Indiana University's J.W. Riley Hospital for Children. Dr. Schlatter is a board certified pediatric surgeon. He is a Professor in the Department of Surgery at Michigan State University's College of Human Medicine and is also the Program Director for the Grand Rapids Medical Education and Research Center / Michigan State University General Surgery Residency.
