Meet Lyle C. Yanagihara, D.D.S., M.S. Oral, Maxillofacial and Dental Implant Surgeon Honolulu Dr. Lyle C. Yanagihara was born in Honolulu and raised in the small town of Wahiawa. A graduate of Leilehua High School, Dr. Yanagihara remains grounded in his humble beginnings and local values. He attended Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska receiving a Bachelors of Arts in Psychology (Magna cum laude) and a Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree (Cum laude). He then did a one year junior fellowship in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. He returned to the Midwest and completed a four year Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Residency at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. There he also received a Master's of Science degree where his thesis dealt with the osseointegration (the fusion of the implant to bone) of dental implants when serving as anchors for othodontic tooth movement, a procedure widely used by Orthodontist today. Despite his laid back approach, you can be assured that Dr. Yanagihara will provide you with the best treatment options to address your needs and wants. He served as Chief of the Division of Dentistry at Kapiolani Medical Center for Women and Children from 1998 - 2010. He is currently the Chief of Dental Surgery at Hawaii Medical Center East. A position he has held since 2001.
