Dr. Luke Bianco always knew that he wanted to be a doctor, but it took a physics class in college to get him interested in optics and ophthalmology. He completed his residency in ophthalmology at the New York Medical College and a fellowship in retinal surgery at the Vitreoretinal Foundation, University of Tennessee, Memphis. In 1996 he moved back to his hometown of Visalia, and has been providing top-notch ophthalmologic care for patients ever since. Early in 2015, Dr. Bianco fulfilled his dream of opening his own practice in the town where three generations of his family have lived.
Many patients come to Dr. Bianco's practice under stress because they have lost part or all of their vision due to diabetic complications or macular degeneration. They appreciate his straightforward approach, and that he takes time to thoroughly explain their condition, their treatment options, and what outcomes they can expect with or without surgery. With 15+ years of practice, he maintains a steady, calm professionalism that lets patients know they are in good hands.
Patients with macular degeneration, retinal detachments, and complications related to diabetes like hemorrhage in the eye have much better treatment options available today than just a few years ago. Dr. Bianco says, “It's so gratifying when we do a procedure to fix a detached retina or hemorrhage, or injections, and patients get their 20/20 vision back. A lot of times with retina surgery you get a significant return of vision.â€
Dr. Bianco was born and raised in Visalia. In his free time he enjoys go-kart racing, golfing with friends, and spending time with family.
