Brief Intro

Meet John R. Van Heukelom, D.D.S., M.S. Dr. Van Heukelom graduated from the University of Iowa College of Dentistry in 1977. He then completed a Hospital Dentistry Residency in 1978 and an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Residency in 1981 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. During his residency he completed a Master of Science in Oral Surgery. In July of 1981, he founded Cedar Rapids Oral Surgery (CR0S). CROS has grown with the addition of Dr. Westlund in 1990 and Dr. Sarasin in 1997. Dr. Van Heukelom achieved fellowship in the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons in 1982 and board certification by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons in 1983. He is past president of the Linn County Dental Association and the Iowa Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. He continues active membership in these organizations as well as the Iowa and American Dental Associations, The American Dental Society of Anesthesiology, and the Academy of Osseointegration. He has been an adjunct faculty member at the University of Iowa College of Dentistry in the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. Back to top of page
