Dr. Bridwell has been intimately involved in all major advances in spinal deformity (scoliosis, kyphosis and spondylolisthesis) surgery during his career.
He has served as Chief of Pediatric and Adult Spinal Surgery in the Orthopaedic Department at Washington University in St. Louis for 28 years.
He is the Founder and Co-Chief of the Spinal Deformity (scoliosis, kyphosis and spondylolisthesis) Service at Washington University in St. Louis/Barnes Hospital/St. Louis Children%u2019s Hospital.
He is the Founder and Director of the Spinal Deformity Fellowship Program, which has trained 55 fellows to date, at the Washington University Medical Center in St. Louis.
Dr. Bridwell is the principal investigator for a 5-year $2.5 million NIH study to evaluate operative and nonoperative treatment of adult scoliosis. This is the only NIH-funded grant which studies both operative and nonoperative treatment of spinal deformity (scoliosis and kyphosis).
