Dr. Volk was born in Omaha, Nebraska but later moved to Torrington, Wyoming where he grew up. His father was a well-respected Family Doctor in Torrington. He spent time in Queensland, Australia as a Rotary Exchange Student. He graduated Magna Cum Laude from Regis College in Denver, Colorado in 1973 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry. He attended the University Of Colorado School Of Medicine and received his Medical Degree in 1977. His Internal Medicine Internship and Residency was completed at the University of Utah Medical Center in 1980. He stayed at the University of Utah and completed his fellowship in Hematology and Oncology in 1982. While he was an Intern and Resident at the University of Utah, he was so outstanding that Dr. Ondreyco actively recruited him to join her practice and he came to Phoenix in 1982. He is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Oncology. He has served as Vice Chief of Staff at Banner Thunderbird Hospital and has been named as a "Top Doc" by Phoenix Magazine multiple times. His special interests include skiing and he still likes to spend time in the great outdoors of Wyoming. Dr. Volk has special expertise in Lymphoma.
