Joseph Iannotti, MD, PhD, is Professor and Chairman of the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at Cleveland Clinic. He is Co-Director of the Orthopaedic Research Center and has a joint appointment in the Department of Biomedical Engineering. Dr. Iannotti joined the Cleveland Clinic in 2000 having been on the faculty of the University of Pennsylvania for 20 years. He left the University of Pennsylvania as a tenured Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery, and Head of the Shoulder and Elbow Service. He received his medical degree from Northwestern University in 1979 and his doctorate from the University of Pennsylvania in 1987. He did his orthopaedic residency training at the University of Pennsylvania from 1979 to 1984. Dr. Iannotti's clinical practice is focused on the treatment of the shoulder, and his primary interest is in the management of complex shoulder problems in joint replacement and rotator cuff tears. His practice includes both open and arthroscopic surgery of the shoulder.
