Dr. Stephens graduated with honors from University of Washington in Seattle, earning his bachelor of science degree in zoology. The Phi Beta Kappa member then went on to earn his doctorate of medicine and then his master of science in rehabilitation medicine from the University of Washington Medical School. He completed his internship at the University of Oregon Hospital and Clinics in Portland, and later his residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation at the University of Washington. Between the two positions, he served as a family physician for the United States Public Health Service in Browning, Mont., and in Alaska. He has held staff positions as auxiliary faculty at the University of Washington Medical School and as medical director at Kalispell Regional Medical Center's Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. Dr. Stephens holds four board certifications - from the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, the American Board of Family Practice, the American Board of Medical Examiners and the American Board of Electrodiagnostic Medicine. He also is a fellow of both the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and the American Academy of Electrodiagnostic Medicine, and belongs to the American College of Sports Medicine. In his free time, he pursues his interests in solo climbing in Glacier National Park, fly fishing and alpine skiing.
