Brief Intro

Dr. Sun grew up in Denver and attended the University of Colorado Boulder on a Boettcher Scholarship. He graduated from CU Medical School with honors and was awarded the Joseph and Regina Glazer Prize along with the Denver Surgical Society Award. As a general surgery resident, Dr. Sun was recognized for excellence in clinical teaching. He received the Lasers in Surgery Research Award during the two years he carried out research. During his fellowship in colon and rectal surgery at the University of Minnesota, he received the Chicago Society of CRS Best Resident Presentation Award as well as the Carl E. Christenson Outstanding Fellow Scholar Award. More recently, Dr. Sun was the recipient of AdventHealth Parker Hospital's Humanitarian Award and was a finalist in the Champions in Health Care sponsored by the Denver Business Journal. Dr. Sun has published over 50 articles in peer reviewed journals and books and has given many lectures in the Denver metro area. Dr. Sun currently practices at AdventHealth Parker Hospital as a colorectal surgeon. He specializes in colon and rectal cancers and pelvic floor reconstruction. At Parker Hospital, he set up the anorectal physiology laboratory and the pelvic floor laboratory. Dr. Sun has been married to his wife, Julie, for over 40 years and they have two sons, Gabriel and Sebastian. He served as an elder at Redeemer Christian Church and has traveled extensively on medical mission trips.
